Chabad ACE Cares

  • Making a Difference One Good Deed at a Time!

  • In conjunction withAaron’s Culinary Experiences(ACE), we are introducing Chabad ACE Cares,  an incredible group of volunteers throughout Los Angeles working with ACE to provide assistance and friendship to those in need due to loneliness, mental or physical illness, hunger, the passing of a loved one and so much more.  Here are just a few actual cases that will illustrate what Chabad ACE Cares does:

    Case 1:

Robert (named changed to protect privacy) is a 42 year-old double amputee, living in a nursing home in Van Nuys, CA. Due to kidney failure, Robert needs dialysis 5 days per week. We were contacted in April by Robert’s family from overseas, asking for someone to reach out in honor of a holiday. Over the past few months, Chabad ACE Cares volunteers have delivered delicious food and Sabbath and Holiday supplies to Robert and two of his friends that he has connected with in the same facility. These deliveries take place on a weekly basis and are super meaningful and appreciated. Here is a text we received from Robert on Saturday night regarding this past Friday’s delivery: "Please thank the people who brought the chicken soup with matzo balls, challah and chocolate chip cookies. It was delicious and very plentiful and it made my holiday special".

    Case 2:

Matthew (name changed to protect privacy) is a 12 year old boy getting ready to celebrate his Bar-Mitzvah. Matthew’s mom is a single mother who struggles to make ends meet. A proper bar-mitzvah, with a beautiful lunch following services for family and friends, was an unattainable dream. A group of Chabad ACE Cares supporters learned of his story and have come forward to provide Matthew with the beautiful bar-mitzvah that every child deserves. To quote one of these generous donors: "I want to make sure that this young man has whatever is typical for a bar-mitzvah. This should include beautiful printed invitations, decorations and a delicious catered meal for family and friends. Please make sure that he has what will make him only remember it for good and not that he missed anything."

    Case 3:

Roberta (name changed to protect privacy) is a 50 year old woman who immigrated from Mexico several years ago. A hard working individual, Roberta lives paycheck to paycheck.  After being diagnosed with breast cancer, her ability to work and sustain her basic needs was severely compromised. Chabad ACE Cares volunteers came together to raise funds for rent and other basic necessities, prepared and delivered healthy foods needed for her treatments and accompanied her to the hospital for chemotherapy sessions.

Friends, there is much work to be done. So many smiles to bring to others. So much tikkun olam (repairing that which is broken in the world) to perform. We invite you to join Chabad ACE Cares . Volunteers are needed to help prepare meals and deliver to those in need. And of course, your support of Chabad ACE Cares is appreciated and is very meaningful.

Please see below to join as a volunteer, request assistance for yourself or someone you know, or to support the work of ACE Cares.
